Iraq resumes gas condensate exports after Gulf shipping disruption
Iraq has resumed exports of gas condensate to the global market after a suspension triggered by the conflict in the Gulf region and disruptions to regional shipping, the country’s oil ministry has said.
The state-run Basra Gas Company has restarted loading operations and export shipments, deputy oil minister Izzat Ismail confirmed, according to the Iraqi news outlet Baghdad Today.
Ismail said a foreign tanker had been loaded with around 50,000 cubic metres of condensate at one of the southern Iraqi ports. He added that the shipment was carried out “in accordance with approved commercial tender requirements and international standards”.
The deputy minister also confirmed that, after completing logistical and technical procedures, the tanker departed the port on May 12.
He expressed hope that loading operations and tanker movements would continue normally in the coming period, signalling a gradual stabilisation of Iraq’s energy export flows following recent regional disruptions.
