08 April 2026 09:24
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed Iraqi militias, announced on April 8 that it will suspend its activities in Iraq and the surrounding region for a period of two weeks, The Associated Press (AP) reports.
This declaration followed closely on the heels of an agreement between the US and Iran to observe a two-week ceasefire
Since the conflict began, Iran-backed militias in Iraq have carried out numerous attacks on US military bases and other installations across the country to show support for Tehran.
