Iraqi oil tanker moves via Strait of Hormuz following Iran's exemption
05 April 2026 16:46
An Iraqi crude oil tanker has been observed navigating the Strait of Hormuz near Iran’s coastline, just a day after Tehran announced that Iraq would be exempt from restrictions on transit through the strategic waterway, according to data from LSEG and Kpler.
The vessel, Ocean Thunder, was positioned in the Gulf of Oman a little over an hour ago, Al Jazeera reports per Marine Traffic tracking.
The tanker loaded approximately 1 million barrels of Basrah heavy crude on March 2 and is scheduled to offload its shipment in Pengerang, Malaysia, in mid-April.
