IRGC claims attack on Amazon data centre in Bahrain
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for an attack on an Amazon data centre in Bahrain, according to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB.
In a statement cited by the broadcaster, the IRGC said it had previously warned that if what it described as terrorist attacks continued, it would target U.S. technology and artificial intelligence companies, which it accused of playing a central role in surveillance and operational management.
It added that U.S. leadership had ignored these warnings, and asserted that it had now followed through on its threat by striking and destroying Amazon’s facility in Bahrain.
The statement also warned of a significantly stronger response if U.S. military actions against Iranian territory persist. The IRGC further said that responsibility for any broader destruction of such companies in the region would lie with U.S. President Donald Trump.
