IRGC threatens Israel with “nightmare” of retaliatory strikes

09 September 2024 12:26

General Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), declared that the "nightmare of Iranian retaliation" for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been relentlessly shaking Israel day and night.

He made the remarks at a conference honouring the martyrs of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Caliber.Az informs, citing foreign media.

General Salami emphasized that the Israeli regime is experiencing confusion and internal unrest, with hundreds of thousands of protesters taking to the streets in the occupied territories.

He underlined that the signs of the enemy's downfall are becoming increasingly evident.

"The Zionist enemy will taste the bitterness of Iranian revenge," Salami warned, adding that "Israel" would soon realize it cannot continue to manipulate Iran's red lines without severe consequences.

Salami also stated that the Israeli occupation is becoming increasingly isolated globally, while support for the Palestinian cause continues to increase, a trend that is now visible even in the heart of Europe.

He concluded his remarks with a stern warning to the Israeli occupation, saying: "The Israeli regime is now confined within the occupied lands, and its leaders are losing their mental stability, awaiting death at any moment. Rest assured, the response will come. When and how? This time, it will be different, and everyone will know that Israel can no longer strike and escape unscathed."

Notably, on July 31, Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of Hamas, was assassinated in Tehran, Iran's capital.

Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed in the early hours of the same day when the building they were staying in was struck.

The 62-year-old Gaza-born leader, who advanced through the ranks of Hamas, was known for his diplomatic interactions with figures like former US President Jimmy Carter and the Emir of Qatar.

Despite enduring personal tragedies, including the deaths of his sons and grandchildren in Israeli airstrikes, Haniyeh remained resolute in his political and resistance efforts.
