Irish capital ranked as top city for solo travellers by TripAdvisor

Ireland's Dublin has been crowned the best city to visit for tourists travelling alone. The Irish capital has been ranked on top of a list by the Travellers' Choice Awards by the TripAdvisor platform.

The award organizers have cited its rich historic architecture and countless literary legends, which the city blends in an old-world atmosphere with a friendly, down-to-earth charm.

The ranking also notes that the city is very easy to explore on foot, making it possible to see and do a lot in a single day.

TripAdvisor described Dublin as a "compact city with a friendly feel", adding that the combination of its small size and good transport links means that it’s ideal for exploring at your own pace. Additionally, there’s plenty to do and see while you’re there, with the award pointing to the city's many excellent museums, checking out the Cathedral, and getting to know some locals at the pub.

Dublin is also described as an ideal base for numerous day trips, such as a visit to the fishing village of Howth.
