Islamic Resistance of Iraq claims drone attack on Israel's Eilat
Iraqi Shiite armed factions, collectively known as the "Islamic Resistance of Iraq," have claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a key target in northern Eilat, Israel.
The group announced the attack via its Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
"In our ongoing fight against the occupation and in solidarity with the Palestinian people, who suffer under the crimes of the usurping entity targeting civilians — children, women, and the elderly — the Islamic Resistance of Iraq carried out a drone strike on a crucial target in the north of occupied Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) on Wednesday, July 24," it stated.
The group has previously reported multiple attempts to strike targets in southern Israel, including Eilat. On several occasions, these attacks coincided with similar actions by the Houthis from Yemen.
Meanwhile, the IDF said that Israeli Air Force fighter jets intercepted two drones overnight that were en route to Israel from the east.
"The aircraft did not cross into Israeli territory," the army said.
