Israel announces operation in southern Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced that Israeli forces launched an operation in Khan Younis in southern Gaza after intelligence indicated the presence of terrorists in the area.
The troops are engaged in combat both above and below ground, targeting and destroying "weapons and terrorist infrastructure", Caliber.Az reports citing IDF.
The IDF also reported that the Israeli Air Force has struck 30 Hamas terrorist targets in Khan Younis, including "weapons storage facilities" and "terrorist bases."
Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a deadly surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, spreading terror throughout the country. The carnage triggered a fierce response from Israel, whose military launched massive retaliatory strikes on the Gaza Strip. Since then, the Palestinian enclave of 2.3 million inhabitants, under Israeli blockade since 2007, has been living under bombardment, forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes.
