Israel announces successful tests of David’s Sling missile defence system
Israel has completed a series of tests of the David’s Sling missile defence system, conducted by the Israel Missile Defence Organisation (IMDO) in cooperation with the US Missile Defence Agency (MDA) and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.
The tests involved a modernised version of the system designed to intercept a wide range of threats, including rockets, ballistic and cruise missiles, aircraft, and drones, Caliber.Az reports via Israeli media.
Scenarios incorporated lessons learned from recent combat operations and simulated various threat conditions.
David’s Sling is a key component of Israel’s multi-layered air and missile defence network, operating alongside the Arrow, Iron Dome, and Iron Beam laser systems. Rafael Advanced Defence Systems serves as the main contractor, while the MMR radar was developed by Elta, part of Israel Aerospace Industries, and the command centre is operated by Elbit Systems.
IMDO head Moshe Patel stated that the tests confirmed the system’s ability to counter multiple and diverse threats, strengthening Israel’s air and missile defence architecture. Rafael CEO Yoav Tourgeman emphasised that the system is continuously upgraded and adapted, with the latest tests reaffirming its status as one of the world’s leading missile defence systems.
