Israel, Bolivia to restore diplomatic relations

Israel and Bolivia are set to restore diplomatic relations after a significant break, with an agreement expected to be signed on December 10 in Washington, D.C., Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said.

“I look forward to meeting tomorrow with my Bolivian counterpart, Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo, to sign an agreement on renewing relations,” Sa’ar wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

He also noted that he spoke with President Rodrigo Paz Pereira the day after his election in October and conveyed Israel's desire to open a new chapter and fully restore diplomatic ties.

Sa’ar highlighted that Israel’s Director-General, Eden Bar Tal, represented the country at the inauguration of President Paz Pereira in Bolivia, signaling a positive step forward in diplomatic engagement.

One of the key developments in this renewed relationship is Bolivia's decision to cancel visa requirements for Israeli travelers, which has been welcomed by Israel as a gesture of goodwill and cooperation.

Bolivia severed relations with Israel in October 2023 due to the situation in the Gaza Strip.
