Israel charges two suspects over alleged terror cell in Nablus

The Israel Police and the Israel Security Agency, Shin Bet, said they had uncovered a terrorist cell in Nablus, also known as Shechem, in the West Bank and arrested two suspects accused of planning attacks in Israel.

According to the indictment, the suspects had been acquiring weapons and ammunition since late 2023 while recruiting and training additional members of the cell. Their activities included conducting shooting exercises, according to investigators.

The investigation found that in 2024 the suspects allegedly planned an assassination attempt against Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir using an attack drone.

After gathering evidence in the case, Israel’s military prosecution filed charges against the two detainees, police said.

Authorities did not provide further details about the alleged plot or the weapons and equipment recovered in the operation.
