The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have completed a large-scale, two-week counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria, carried out jointly by troops from the Commando Brigade, the Menashe Regional Brigade, the Shomron Regional Brigade and the Israeli Air Force, together with the ISA and the Israel Border Police.
In an official statement, the IDF summarized the results of the operation, Caliber.Az reports.
“Dozens of Wanted Suspects Apprehended, Six Terrorists Eliminated and Hundreds of Thousands of Shekels in Terror Funds Confiscated: Counterterrorism Operation in Northern Samaria Has Concluded.
IDF troops from the Commando Brigade, the Menashe Regional Brigade, the Shomron Regional Brigade and the Israeli Air Force, together with the ISA and the Israel Border Police, completed an operation to counter terrorism in northern Samaria over the past two weeks,” the statement noted.
“During the operation, the troops eliminated six terrorists, apprehended dozens of wanted suspects and questioned many additional suspects. The troops also located and confiscated hundreds of thousands of shekels used to finance terrorist activity and dozens of weapons, including pistols, M16s, Carlo-type improvised weapons, ammunition and knives.
In addition, more than 30 targeted strikes were conducted, as well as several operations with the Israeli Air Force for transport and operational support in the area,” it added.
“Furthermore, troops from the Maglan Unit located weapons in the areas of Tammun and Far'a hidden inside large pots at the entrances of their residences. They also located inciting materials and Hamas-supporting books.
In the Jenin camp, Engineering Corps troops from the Menashe Regional Brigade located and dismantled explosive devices and weapons.
Additionally, the troops dismantled two terrorists’ residences simultaneously in two different locations in the area.
The operation was intended to preserve the IDF’s freedom of operation and prevent terrorists from establishing themselves in the area.
The apprehended suspects and confiscated weapons were transferred to the Israel Police’s Judea and Samaria District and the ISA for further handling,” the IDF concluded.
