Israel conducts overnight raid in Mount Dov, destroy former Hezbollah positions
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that its troops conducted a ground operation in the Mount Dov area of southern Lebanon, targeting and destroying several positions previously used by Hezbollah.
According to a military statement, the operation was carried out overnight by the 810th Mountain Regional Brigade, operating under the 210th “Bashan” Regional Division. The IDF noted that the raid followed months of observation and reconnaissance, aimed at neutralizing threats posed by Hezbollah’s entrenched infrastructure in the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media.
Mount Dov, also known as the Shebaa Farms, is a strategically sensitive and disputed area along the Israel-Lebanon border, claimed by Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. The area has long been a flashpoint for tensions and skirmishes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters.
The IDF stated that the targeted positions were no longer actively used by Hezbollah but retained strategic importance as part of the group's historical military presence along the border.
In addition to the ground operation, the IDF reported that it conducted an airstrike earlier today on a Hezbollah site in southern Lebanon. The location was reportedly used for the production of materials linked to the group’s reconstruction efforts and terrorist activities.
The Israeli military claimed that the site’s continued operation represented a breach of long-standing understandings between Israel and Lebanon, though it did not elaborate on the specific agreements or the nature of the alleged violation.
