Israel considers border fence with Jordan
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz emphasized the urgent need to construct a fence along Israel's border with Jordan to block the smuggling of Iranian weapons into the West Bank.
"It is essential to swiftly build a security barrier along the Israel-Jordan border to stop the smuggling of advanced Iranian weapons [into the West Bank of the Jordan]," Katz stated, Caliber.Az reports, citing his quotes in foreign media.
His comments were shared by the Israeli Foreign Ministry's press office.
Katz further suggested that "the US and Western nations should support Jordan" in its efforts to counter "Iranian subversion." He added, "All these measures should be implemented decisively and swiftly, alongside stricter sanctions against the Iranian regime."
Katz also claimed that "Iran is working to establish an eastern terror front against Israel" by "smuggling weapons, funding, and controlling terrorist organizations." Initially, these weapons are smuggled into Jordan, "primarily via the Syrian border," and from there, they are "transported to Judea and Samaria (the Israeli term for the West Bank of the Jordan River), especially to Palestinian refugee camps," the Israeli foreign minister explained.
