The Israel Defence Forces carried out an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip on July 9, killing Yahya Saeed Mohammed Hamdan, a Nukhba cell commander in the military wing of Hamas.
The military said Hamdan took part in the October 7, 2023, attack and infiltrated the Re'im military base during the assault, Caliber.Az reports.

In recent months, he had been involved in planning attacks against Israeli troops and efforts to rebuild Hamas' operational capabilities.
Israeli forces assessed that Hamdan posed an immediate threat to troops operating in the area and carried out what the military described as a precise aerial strike against him.
The IDF added that measures were taken ahead of the operation to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.
Troops operating under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations aimed at removing immediate threats, the military noted.
