Israel denies Arrow missile shortage amid rising tensions

18 June 2025 14:07

Israel has dismissed claims that the supply of Arrow interceptor missiles for its missile defence system is running low.

“This is not true and does not reflect reality,” Israeli officials said, Caliber.Az reports via Israeli media.

The concerns originally stemmed from a report by the foreign media, which highlighted fears about Israel’s capacity to defend against long-range ballistic missile attacks from Iran should the conflict escalate.

Thomas Karako, director of the Missile Defence Project at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, commented on the situation, saying, “Neither the United States nor the Israelis can keep sitting and intercepting missiles all day.”

He further warned, “Israelis and their allies must act quickly to do what is necessary because we can’t afford to just sit and play shoot-'em-up.”

In contrast, a source speaking anonymously to the foreign media estimated that Israel could maintain its missile defence against Iranian attacks for approximately 10 to 12 days without US support.

The source also cautioned that, by week’s end, Israel’s defence systems might only be capable of intercepting a reduced number of incoming missiles due to ammunition rationing. “They will have to choose what they want to intercept,” the source said. “The system is already overwhelmed.”
