Israel eliminates Hamas field commander in northern West Bank operation
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the successful elimination of Wassem Hazem, a Hamas field commander, during a recent operation in the northern West Bank.
Hazem was targeted and killed by the Israeli soldiers near the Palestinian town of Jenin, Caliber.Az reports per the IDF press service.
Hazem was identified while traveling in a vehicle on a road in the region. Shortly after his death, two additional Hamas militants accompanying him in the car were also killed in an airstrike.
The IDF stated that Hazem was a key figure in directing shelling and attacks, and was heavily involved in initiating terrorist activities in the West Bank. The military found rifles, a pistol, ammunition, explosives, and grenades in the Hamas vehicle.
The press release confirmed that no IDF soldiers were injured in the operation.
