Israel eliminates head of Quds Force's engineering unit in Iran
Israeli Air Force strikes based on Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) intelligence targeted and killed Mahdi Vafaei, the engineer-commander of the Quds Force’s Lebanon Corps, in the Mahallat area of Iran.
In a Telegram post, the IDF noted that, for 20 years as head of the corps’ engineering unit, Vafaei advanced underground projects across Lebanon and Syria.
“Within that framework, he led the Iranian terror regime’s efforts to establish underground terrorist infrastructure sites for Hezbollah and the Assad regime in Syria, and managed dozens of underground projects in Lebanon utilised for the storage of advanced weapons.
Vafaei’s elimination degrades the Hezbollah terrorist organisation’s capacity to develop underground infrastructure sites and undermines the Iranian terrorist regime’s efforts to advance and carry out terror attacks across the Middle East,” the IDF statement said.
