Israel fires soldier after CNN incident in West Bank

An Israeli military spokesperson has said that a soldier has been dismissed following “inappropriate comments” directed at a CNN film crew, the Associated Press reports.

The incident comes after members of the battalion in which the soldier served attacked and briefly detained the crew in the West Bank last week.

According to the spokesperson, other soldiers involved in the incident received formal reprimands.

Earlier, it was reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had suspended all operational activities of the reserve 941st Infantry Battalion following the assault on CNN journalists.
