Israel hits IRGC command facility in central Tehran

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had carried out a strike on a main security headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps located within civilian infrastructure in central Tehran.

“As part of a wave of strikes that was completed a short while ago in the heart of Tehran, the Israeli Air Force, guided by IDF intelligence, struck the IRGC’s main security headquarters,” the military said in a statement.

According to the IDF, the targeted facility was used by the IRGC to coordinate operational activities and conduct situational assessments. It added that the headquarters also directed the Basij battalions, which form part of the IRGC’s armed structure.

“The headquarter was used by the IRGC to synchronize unit activities and to conduct situational assessments. It was also responsible for directing the Basij Battalions,” the statement said. “The Basij Forces are part of the IRGC’s Armed Forces and have been responsible for the execution of terror attacks for years.”

The IDF further alleged that Basij forces have played a key role in suppressing internal protests in Iran, including recent demonstrations, “with the use of severe violence, arrests, and physical force.”

“Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence,” the statement added.

The military said the strike forms part of a broader campaign targeting Iranian security infrastructure.

“The strike on the headquarter is part of the current operational phase aimed at further degrading core Iranian terror regime systems and security capabilities,” the IDF stated. “The completed strikes are part of the effort to further deepen the damage to the Iranian terror regime.”
