Israel issues new evacuation orders in southern Lebanon despite truce
The Israeli military has issued new evacuation instructions for residents across multiple locations in southern Lebanon, despite a fragile ceasefire that was recently prolonged by three weeks.
Emergency evacuation directives were announced for seven villages in the southern part of the country, CNN reports, citing a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The affected locations are all believed to lie north of the Litani River, which runs across Lebanon.
“Hezbollah’s repeated ceasefire violations compel the IDF to act with determination against its terror infrastructure,” the Israeli military said.
Earlier this week, the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon was extended for an additional three weeks. However, Israel has maintained that its forces will continue operating in southern Lebanon, while clashes between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group have persisted.
