Israel kills several top-ranking Hamas militants Strikes weapons tunnel in Gaza, military facilities in Syria

25 October 2023 10:40

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) eliminated three intercessor Hamas battalion commanders on October 24.

Based on accurate intelligence, Khalil Mukhaez - deputy commander of the Shati battalion, Khalil Tatri - deputy commander of the Sheikh Radwan battalion, as well as Abed Alrahman - deputy commander of the Nuseirat battalion, which participated in the massacre at Kibbutz Be'eri, were eliminated, Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF Telegram channel.

In addition, on the night of October 24 to 25, the IDF said its naval forces located a Hamas militant cell exiting a tunnel on the Gaza Strip coast and attempting to infiltrate Israeli territory via the sea, near Zikim.

Israeli Navy, Air Force (IAF) and ground soldiers struck the militants and thwarted their infiltration attempt.

IDF fighter jets and naval soldiers struck the tunnel and weapons warehouse used by the militants in the Gaza Strip.

There is no immediate risk of an additional infiltration at the moment.

Moreover, the Israeli side stated that the IDF fighter jets struck military infrastructure and mortar launchers belonging to the Syrian Army in response to the launches toward Israel on October 24.

The IDF further reported that the Israeli military and Israel Border Police forces conducted counterterrorism activities in Wadi Bruqin, in the area of Jenin, early morning on October 25, and apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

Additionally, the forces opened fire toward armed militants. Hits were identified.

During counterterrorism activity in the Jenin Camp, armed militants fired and hurled explosive devices at Israeli security forces. In response, an IDF UAV struck the militants. Hits were identified.

No injuries to Israeli security forces were reported.

Moreover, in Jenin, at least four Palestinians were killed early October 25 in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

A number of people were also injured, some of whom are in “serious condition,” it added.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu earlier Wednesday that Israeli forces stormed the camp and deployed snipers on the rooftops of a number of homes and buildings, which led to the outbreak of clashes.

They noted that there was a power outage in several neighborhoods in the city of Jenin which coincided with the raid.

Witnesses said the army struck a site near the camp’s cemetery with two missiles, causing injuries.

The Palestinian group Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said its fighters were able to detonate an explosive device while the Israeli army was storming the camp, causing casualties.

Witnesses said the army withdrew from the camp following a military raid that lasted several hours.

The war, in its 19th day on October 25, is the deadliest of five Gaza wars for both sides. The Hamas-run Health Ministry said on October 24 that at least 5,791 Palestinians have been killed, including at least 704 in the past day, and 16,297 wounded. In the occupied West Bank, 96 Palestinians have been killed and 1,650 wounded in violence and Israeli raids since Oct. 7.

More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed, according to Israeli officials, mostly civilians who died in the initial Hamas rampage. In addition, 222 people including foreigners were believed captured by Hamas during the incursion and taken into Gaza, Israel’s military has said. Four of those have been released.
