Israel launches high-precision operation in centre of Gaza
The 162nd Division of the Israel Defense Forces has launched a "high-precision" operation against radicals and their facilities in the central Gaza Strip, with fighter jets striking military targets before the troops entered the centre of the Palestinian enclave. TASS reports, citing the IDF press service.
"Overnight, the 162nd Division launched a highly accurate, intelligence-based operation to destroy terrorists and terrorist infrastructure in the centre of the Gaza Strip. Before the troops entered the area, Israeli Air Force aviation and fighter jets struck terrorist infrastructure above and below ground in the central Gaza Strip," the press service said in a statement.
It noted that "dozens of terrorist targets" in the central part of the enclave were attacked from the air before the entry of ground units. "The joint activity of the manoeuvring forces and the air force was carried out following clear intelligence indications about the presence of terrorist installations and a large number of terrorists in the area. During the operation, the Israeli Navy carried out a number of pinpoint strikes along the coastline in the central Gaza Strip in order to support the ground units," the press service added.
