Israel, Lebanon to resume dialogue in Washington following ceasefire
Israeli and Lebanese officials are expected to convene in Washington on Thursday (April 23) for a second round of talks.
The discussions would mark the first follow-up meeting since a 10-day ceasefire came into effect last week, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
On April 16, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a ceasefire.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the agreement follows a series of phone conversations he held with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“I just had excellent conversations with the Highly Respected President Joseph Aoun, of Lebanon, and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel. These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST," he wrote.
