Israel open to military option on Iran’s nuclear program, diplomat says

25 March 2025 09:06

Israel is prepared to consider military action as a solution to the growing concerns over Iran's nuclear program, Acting Israeli Ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Ben Zvi said.

In an interview with Russian media, Ben Zvi was asked whether Israel was ready to pursue military options to address the issue. His response was clear: "All options."The diplomat's remarks come amid increasing international tension over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, Caliber.Az reports.

Ben Zvi also weighed in on the recent phone call between Russian and US leaders, calling the conversation "promising" as long as it leads to concrete actions. He pointed out, however, that Russia’s ongoing cooperation with Iran could be a crucial factor in any resolution.

"A thing to remember is that Russia actually maintains close cooperation with Iran. If Russia is capable of ensuring the suspension of Iran’s nuclear program through this cooperation, then it’s really a very important step, and yes, it is promising," Ben Zvi stated.

The diplomat also reiterated Israel's stance that peaceful solutions could only emerge if Iran ceased its hostile rhetoric towards Israel. "I know that the United States will always take steps in this direction. If Iran agrees to that and stops making threats every day to wipe Israel off the map, then opportunities will emerge for a peaceful process, but if not, all options are on the table," he added.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, in a post on the Truth Social platform on March 7, stated that he had sent a message to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urging dialogue over Tehran’s nuclear program. However, Khamenei dismissed the offer, stating that Iran would not engage in talks with the US due to Washington's focus on its own interests.

On March 12, Khamenei further criticized Trump’s call for dialogue, calling it an attempt to deceive global public opinion. "Trump’s remark about his readiness for talks was aimed at deceiving global public opinion," Khamenei said.
