Israel orders full evacuation of Gaza City ahead of strikes

The Israeli military has ordered all residents of Gaza City to leave immediately, ahead of what it described as a major operation against Hamas.

According to Caliber.Az, IDF Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee issued the directive on X page, warning that the army would be operating in the area with “great force.”

“The IDF is determined to crush Hamas and will act in the Gaza City area with the same strength it has employed across the Strip,” he said. 

“For your safety, evacuate immediately to the humanitarian zone in al-Mawasi.”

Adraee also called on those leaving to report any Hamas roadblocks or attempts to prevent the evacuation.

It is the first time since October 2023 that Israel has ordered the evacuation of the entire city. At that time, the directive was not fully carried out.
