Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has expressed strong opposition to the recent agreement between Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas brokered in Beijing on forming a national unity government in Gaza.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Katz criticized Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for aligning with Hamas, describing it as a betrayal of anti-terrorist principles, Caliber.Az reports.

Katz asserted that Israel remains committed to dismantling Hamas's influence in Gaza and rejects any role for Abbas in governing the region.
"Hamas and Fatah signed an agreement in China for joint control of Gaza after the war. Instead of rejecting terrorism, Mahmoud Abbas embraces the murderers and rapists of Hamas, revealing his true face. In reality, this won’t happen because Hamas's rule will be crushed, and Abbas will be watching Gaza from afar. Israel's security will remain solely in Israel's hands," he wrote.
