Israel reveals hundreds of Iran’s missiles may be buried under rubble
In a closed-door briefing to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee, Israel’s National Security Adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, revealed that a significant portion of Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal may be rendered unusable and buried beneath rubble.
Hanegbi disclosed that Iran initially possessed approximately 2,500 ballistic missiles at the onset of the current conflict, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Since then, more than 500 missiles have been launched at Israel, while an estimated 800 could now be trapped within tunnel networks damaged by Israeli airstrikes, the source indicated.
Western military officials caution that it remains premature to fully evaluate the extent of damage inflicted by recent US strikes on three major Iranian nuclear facilities.
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed uncertainty regarding the precise locations of nuclear material Iran has produced, including substantial stockpiles of uranium-235 enriched to 60 per cent—levels dangerously close to those required for nuclear weapons development.
