Israel's brutal onslaught kills 506 Palestinians, including 200 children, in Gaza in Three Days
At least 506 Palestinians, including 200 children, have been killed and 909 injured in Gaza following Israel's breach of a ceasefire on March 18, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
The latest casualties have come as Israeli ground forces escalate their assault on the enclave, with at least 85 people killed and 133 injured since the dawn of March 20, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of a "larger and stronger front" emerging in the occupied West Bank, alongside an ongoing "fierce war" against Hamas in Gaza.
The Gaza Health Ministry has also reported a total of 49,617 Palestinian deaths and 112,950 injuries since the start of the conflict. However, Gaza's Government Media Office has raised the death toll to over 61,700, with many people presumed dead beneath the rubble.
This comes after the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,139 people and the capture of over 200 more.
Note that, on March 18, Israeli fighter jets launched a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, breaking a fragile truce that had largely held since January. The airstrikes, ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, were a response to Hamas’s refusal to release Israeli hostages and their rejection of US-proposed solutions.
Netanyahu has instructed the Israeli military to take "strong action" against Hamas, citing increasing Hamas activity in recent days as the group reportedly reorganizes its forces.
On the same day, Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reported over 140 deaths since the truce began in January, highlighting ongoing tensions. The Israeli military has continued to target Hamas fighters it deems a threat to its forces.
