Israel says armed Hamas cell eliminated in northern Gaza
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have said they eliminated an armed group posing a threat to Israeli troops in northern Gaza.
The operation targeted a Hamas-affiliated armed cell operating near Israeli forces deployed in the area known as the Yellow Line, Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF.
In another incident, fighters from the 14th Brigade operating in northern Gaza on May 4 identified five militants who approached the Yellow Line and operated near troops, posing an immediate threat.
In both cases, the Air Force, in coordination with ground forces, carried out strikes to eliminate the threat.
Most of the militants were eliminated, and additional hits were confirmed.
Before the strikes, measures were taken to minimise harm to civilians, including the use of precision-guided weapons and aerial surveillance.
“IDF troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat,” the army said.
