Israel sets up humanitarian zone in Khan Yunis amid Gaza evacuations
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced the creation of a humanitarian zone in Khan Yunis to provide essential support for civilians in southern Gaza.
According to Caliber.Az, the army’s spokesperson confirmed that the zone will feature critical infrastructure, including field hospitals and desalination facilities. Food, tents, medicines, and medical equipment will be systematically delivered, with the assistance of the government’s coordinator for operations in the territories and the international community.
The announcement comes as the IDF urges civilians to evacuate southward from Gaza City, where Israeli troops are advancing to seize remaining Hamas strongholds and regain control of the city.
The move also follows a warning last week from the UN World Food Program, which stated that Gaza is “at breaking point.” Israel has indicated plans to scale up humanitarian infrastructure in southern Gaza to address urgent needs.
