Israel shells European hospital in south of Gaza

Israeli forces struck the European Hospital of Gaza, which is located in the city of Khan Younis in the south of the Palestinian enclave.

“The Gaza European Hospital and the UAE field hospital located there were damaged as a result of Israeli shelling,” the Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip said in a statement published on its official Facebook page, TASS reports.

The European Gaza Hospital is a Palestinian public hospital founded by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with an EU grant in 1989.

In addition, according to Al Hadath TV channel, Israel carried out strikes in an area of the southern city of Rafah, where another public hospital is located.

UNRWA previously reported that "Israeli forces continue to shell [the town of] Khan Yunis and the southern part of the enclave, despite orders for residents to move south."

The situation in the Middle East sharply worsened after militants of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas entered Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7. Hamas calls the attack a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Israel announced a complete blockade of Gaza and began striking the strip and certain areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes also occur in the West Bank. More than 2,800 Palestinians were killed, more than 11,200 were injured, on the Israeli side, up to 1,500 people became victims of the conflict, more than 4,200 were injured.
