Israel signals intent to strike Iran in response to any direct attack
Israel has warned the US and several European countries that if Iran directly attacks the Jewish state, Israel will retaliate with strikes against Iranian territory.
The purpose of these notifications is to "preemptively alleviate international pressure" on Israel that would arise following an anticipated Iranian attack, Caliber.Az reports citing the Israeli media.
The notifications make it clear that "regardless of the outcome of [Iran's] attack," Israel is "determined to retaliate against Iran," even if no casualties occur on the Israeli side.
Iran announced its intention to attack Israel following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in Tehran on July 31. The Iranian government, along with Lebanese Hezbollah and Hamas, has accused Israel of orchestrating the attack and vowed retaliation. Israel has not confirmed any involvement in Sinwar's death. Yemeni Houthis have also declared their readiness to join in the retaliatory strike.
