Israel strikes Hezbollah stronghold in southern Lebanon

Israeli artillery launched heavy shelling on the Ali al-Taher mountainous area, a Hezbollah stronghold in Lebanon's southern Nabatieh province, according to Al-Markaziya.

The agency reported powerful explosions on the heights, where the Shiite group is said to maintain underground shelters and tunnels.

Residential areas in Nabatieh al-Fawqa also came under fire, with several buildings damaged and thick plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas.

Earlier, Israeli drones struck the banks of the Litani River near the Hardali Bridge, close to a Lebanese military checkpoint.

The Lebanese army said none of its soldiers was injured and that the situation remained under control.

Lebanon's Health Ministry made it clear that Israeli military operations in the country's south have continued despite the ceasefire announced on June 19.

According to the ministry, the death toll since the escalation began on March 2 has risen to 4,328, while 12,232 people have been wounded.
