Israel targets Hezbollah command centre in Beirut, IDF reports
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) launched an operation targeting a Hezbollah command centre in Beirut.
In a press release, the military stated that the operation was conducted in response to an attack on Israeli territory.
According to the IDF, the targeted facility was used to coordinate attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers operating in southern Lebanon. The statement also stressed that measures were taken prior to the strike to minimise the risk to civilians.
“The Hezbollah terrorist organization continues to advance terror attacks against the citizens of the State of Israel and IDF soldiers. The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel and IDF soldiers, in accordance with the directives of the political echelon,” the army said.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that a number of people were killed and others were injured in the strike.
