Israel, US discuss Iran threats, military coordination
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Galant held talks with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin on operational and strategic coordination in the context of possible threats from Iran and its allies.
They also considered issues of interoperability between the armed forces of the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service of the Israeli Defence Ministry.
Galant discussed with Austin "operational and strategic coordination in light of recent developments," as well as "interoperability" of the Israeli and US Armed Forces "taking into account the wide range of US military capabilities deployed in the region," the statement said.
The Israeli defence minister also briefed the Pentagon chief on the "readiness and capabilities of the Israel Defence Forces in the face of threats from Iran and its regional satellites," the press service continued.
In addition, Galant "emphasised the urgency of reaching an agreement on the release of hostages" held by radicals in the Gaza Strip, the ministry added.
