Israeli Air Force conducts extensive strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

29 October 2024 15:52

The Israeli Air Force has carried out a series of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah facilities in Lebanon, striking over a hundred locations within the last 24 hours.

Approximately 110 targets were hit, including rocket launchers aimed at Israel, weapons depots, and other military infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports citing a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The statement further indicated that these airstrikes resulted in the destruction of "dozens of terrorists."

Meanwhile, Israeli air strikes in Gaza continue to escalate, with a recent attack on a five-storey residential building in Beit Lahiya, which housed displaced families.

This strike resulted in the deaths of at least 77 Palestinians and left many others wounded.

In related developments, Hezbollah has announced that Naim Qassem will take over as secretary-general of the group, succeeding the slain leader Hassan Nasrallah.

World leaders have condemned Israel's decision to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), labelling it as “intolerable,” “illegal,” and akin to “collective punishment.”

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, Israeli strikes on eastern Lebanon have led to at least 60 fatalities, marking the deadliest day for the region since the escalation of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

In Gaza, the toll from Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023, has reached at least 43,020 killed and 101,110 wounded. Meanwhile, approximately 1,139 individuals lost their lives in Israel during the Hamas-led assaults, with more than 200 people reported as captives.

In Lebanon, Israeli operations have resulted in a death toll of at least 2,710, including at least 127 children, with 12,592 wounded since the onset of the conflict in Gaza.
