Israeli airstrike kills senior Hezbollah weapons engineer in Lebanon An Israeli Air Force strike in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre has killed Hussein Nazih Barja, a senior engineer affiliated with Hezbollah’s weapons development programme.
Barja was described as a key figure in Hezbollah’s weapons development division — a unit tasked with the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of weapons, including precision-guided missiles. The division also plays a critical role in bolstering Hezbollah’s logistical and supply capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Israel Defense Forces' message.
According to the statement, Barja's elimination is part of a broader Israeli strategy aimed at undermining Hezbollah’s attempts to restore its military strength, which has suffered significant losses during recent clashes. “His removal is intended to deal a serious blow to Hezbollah’s efforts to rebuild its arsenal following the damage sustained during the Israel Defense Forces’ Operation Northern Arrows,” the Israeli military said.
