Israeli army claims total elimination of Hamas' Rafah brigade 2,000 militants, 13 km of tunnels destroyed
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced the successful eradication of the Rafah Brigade of Hamas, including the destruction of 2,000 militants and approximately 13 kilometers of underground tunnels.
In a statement, the IDF detailed the extensive operations conducted by its 162nd Division in the Rafah area, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Over the past several months, the division carried out targeted, intelligence-driven missions that led to the significant dismantling of Hamas' infrastructure and personnel.
The IDF press service confirmed that the operations in the Tell al-Sultan neighborhood, part of Rafah, were particularly impactful. More than 250 militants were reported killed during this period, including Mahmoud Hamdan, the commander of the Tel al-Sultan battalion, along with most of his battalion's leadership.
The military emphasized that these actions mark the conclusion of their targeted campaign against the Rafah Brigade, aimed at reducing Hamas' operational capabilities in the region.
