Israeli army detects over 120 shells launched from Lebanon in one day

On October 6, 2024, more than 120 shells were launched from Lebanon toward Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service.

This update was provided at midnight Baku time, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

Throughout the day, the IDF reported several waves of shelling targeting the northern regions of Israel. In one incident, buildings in the town of Ma'alot-Tarshiha were damaged, and one person sustained minor injuries.

Simultaneously, Israeli air forces conducted airstrikes on dozens of targets in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

According to the IDF press service, these strikes targeted underground infrastructure and armed units of Hamas militants. Ground forces were also actively engaged in combat in the Jabalia area, with the IDF reporting the elimination of dozens of Palestinian militants. During the operation, Israeli forces discovered weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices.

Earlier, Israeli military officials announced the launch of a new operation in the Jabalia area, involving units from the 162nd Division, supported by air forces. The operation aims to systematically destroy the terrorist infrastructure of Hamas, and according to Israeli sources, will continue "as long as necessary to achieve its objectives."
