Israeli attack on Gaza school kills at least 17, including children PHOTO
At least 17 Palestinians were killed, including an 11-month-old baby, and 32 wounded in an Israeli attack on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza’s Nuseirat camp.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had hit a Hamas command centre in a compound formerly used as a school, in the area, Caliber.Az reports, per foreign media.
Notably, over 20,000 residents evacuated from Jabalia, a region in the northern Gaza Strip, following a breakthrough of the Hamas blockade that began on the morning of October 22.
The IDF has stated it is “breaking the Hamas siege on Jabaliya” by “allowing civilians to evacuate for their safety in a safe manner and through organized routes.”
According to the IDF, “the breaking of the Hamas siege on Jabaliya is manifested in tens of thousands of civilians evacuating from the area since yesterday morning, despite the efforts by Hamas to prevent [them].”
The number of Palestinians killed has risen to 42,847, with 100,544 injured, in Israel's military offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.
