Israeli border forces launch operation near Jenin
Israeli security forces have launched a counterterrorism operation across several areas of northern Samaria, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on November 27.
According to the military, the IDF, Israel Security Agency (ISA), and Border Police began the operation following a series of attacks over the past year originating from the targeted areas. The IDF added that troops are currently operating in the area of Jenin, Caliber.Az reports.
On the first day of the operation, forces searched more than 220 locations, detained several wanted individuals, and questioned dozens of suspects. Security personnel also reported seizing weapons, dismantling suspected militant hideouts, and confiscating tens of thousands of shekels allegedly intended for militant activities.
The IDF said the operation is aimed at preventing the formation of armed groups and countering threats to Israeli civilians and security forces. It noted that the operation could be expanded depending on developments.
