Israeli defence minister to visit Türkiye

Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz will leave on an official visit to Türkiye on October 26, where he is scheduled to meet with Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar.

Gantz is also expected to meet with the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan, according to NEWSru.co.il.

This is the first official visit of the Israeli defence minister to Türkiye in the last ten years. The previous such visit took place in 2012, when Ehud Barak, who at that time held the post of Minister of Defence, visited Türkiye.

Gantz's visit to Türkiye will take place a few days before the elections to the 25th Knesset (November 1), in which the defence minister is at the head of the “Mahane Mamlahti” list.
