Russia launches massive drone, missile strike on western Ukraine

Russian forces have launched the most extensive strike to date on the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk and its surrounding region, using a combination of kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles. The attack caused infrastructure damage and left several people injured, according to the city's mayor, Ruslan Martsinkiv.

Speaking to the media, Martsinkiv confirmed that the city was hit by a coordinated assault involving both missiles and Iranian-made Shahed drones, Caliber.Az reports via the Ukrainian press.

"In three villages within the community, we have confirmed damage to infrastructure. The extent of the destruction is still being clarified. We know that one village has reported injuries, though the victims are in light condition," the mayor said.

He added that the scale of the attack was significant, with additional assessments ongoing in two other villages in the area.

"Thanks to our air defence forces and everyone involved in defending Ivano-Frankivsk. This was the largest attack since the start of the full-scale invasion," Martsinkiv emphasised.
