Ritzau: Denmark may host Ukrainian defence industry enterprises
Denmark has announced plans to host several Ukrainian defence industry enterprises on its territory as part of a deepening military partnership with Kyiv.
According to Danish news agency Ritzau, Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen revealed that three to five Ukrainian defence enterprises could be established in the city of Odense on the island of Funen, where a drone production centre was launched earlier this year.
During his visit to Kyiv, the minister stated that Denmark has ambitious goals for developing its military industry, which in a few years could supply arms both to its own army and to the armed forces of allied nations. The invitation to Ukrainian defence enterprises to operate in Denmark is part of an agreement signed by the defence ministers of both countries at the end of June.
The Danish Defence Minister also noted that the presence of Ukrainian factories in Denmark would benefit the country itself, as the drones produced would also be supplied to the Danish Armed Forces.
To implement this initiative, changes to Ukrainian legislation are required to allow military production abroad; a similar legislative step will also need to be taken by Denmark.
