A confirmed case of cholera has been registered in the Polish city of Stargard, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, involving an elderly woman who, according to available information, had not left the country.
The report comes from the Polish news portal Onet, citing Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, the country’s Chief Sanitary Inspector.
Following the diagnosis, epidemiological control measures have been introduced, including quarantine and medical supervision of individuals who had contact with the patient.
Currently, 85 people are under observation, including 26 placed in home quarantine. The list of contacts includes medical personnel, family members, and staff at a healthcare facility.
In response to the case, hospital authorities have decided to temporarily suspend admissions to the internal medicine department and limit visitations.
