Israeli flight diverted after Slovenia denies landing
03 June 2026 14:28
A flight operated by Israeli carrier Israir was forced to divert to Croatia after being denied permission to land in Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, according to Israeli media.
The aircraft, which had been scheduled to land in Ljubljana, aborted its approach and was redirected to Zagreb, the capital of neighbouring Croatia.
Israir Chief Executive Uri Sirkis said the diversion was due to restrictions imposed by Slovenian authorities.
“The authorities of Ljubljana do not allow Israeli airlines to land at their airport because they are politically firmly opposed to the course of the Israeli government,” he said.
