Israeli FM confirms country's acceptance into US visa waiver program
The administration of US President Joe Biden is reportedly planning to grant Israeli citizens visa-free travel to the United States.
As Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced this development on social media, describing it as "great news" for Israel. According to Cohen, Israel is set to enter the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP) "as promised", with the entry anticipated in November, the Times of Israel reported.
While this change has not been officially announced by the United States government, the US Embassy in Israel stated, that the Secretary of Homeland Security will make a determination "in the coming days", however called the Israeli minister's announcement "premature", according to the Jerusalem Post.
If confirmed, this agreement would permit the visa-free travel of both countries' citizens to the respective other by merely making an online request 72 hours ahead.
