Israeli forces complete broad strikes on Iran’s defence system
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had completed a large-scale strike targeting what it described as strategic air defence systems belonging to the Iranian government, in a further escalation of tensions between the two regional adversaries.
In a statement released on February 28, the IDF said the operation was guided by military intelligence and focused on degrading Iran’s aerial defence capabilities, Caliber.Az reports.
Among the targets was an advanced SA-65 air defence system in the Kermanshah region of western Iran.
The Israeli military said the strikes form part of its broader campaign during the ongoing conflict, including operations conducted under the codename “Operation Rising Lion.” According to the IDF, previous attacks have already caused significant damage to Iran’s air defence network.
Israel said the objective of the latest strikes was to expand the Israeli Air Force’s operational freedom over Iranian airspace, weaken the capabilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and counter threats posed to Israel’s civilian population.
