Israeli forces detain Jamaa Islamiya militant in Har Dov area
Israeli Defence Forces conducted a targeted raid overnight, detaining a terrorist affiliated with Jamaa Islamiya in the Har Dov area.
The operation, based on intelligence gathered over recent weeks, resulted in the militant being taken to Israel for further questioning, Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF’s press service.
Weapons were also found in the same building where the arrest took place.
Israeli forces noted that Jamaa Islamiya has carried out attacks against the State of Israel and its civilian population in the country’s north throughout the war.
“IDF troops will continue to operate to remove any threat against the State of Israel,” IDF stated.
Jamaa Islamiya is a Sunni Islamist political and militant movement founded in Beirut in the 1960s with ideological roots in the Muslim Brotherhood and presence in Lebanese Sunni communities.
It operates both as a political faction and through an armed wing known as the Fajr Forces, originally formed in 1982 to resist Israeli presence in southern Lebanon.
The group is ideologically aligned with Hamas and has engaged in joint operations against Israel, though its political influence in Lebanon remains relatively limited.
In 2026, the US designated Jamaa Islamiya as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation, citing its reactivation of armed elements in support of Hamas and collaboration with other militant actors.
